We’re often asked by property owners “what’s the difference between the London auctioneers and how should I choose between them?” Our advice is to look at each auctioneers previous sales, paying particular attention to success rates for properties similar to yours and in the same location. If there have been successful sales for similar properties then that’s a good sign.

It can be tempting for sellers to go with the auctioneer who offers the highest reserve price, but be careful; just as estate agents entice sellers by suggesting a high asking price, some auctioneers (often the smaller auctioneers) will entice sellers by starting with a high reserve price, which may be reduced depending on the level of interest.
